The Canadian Pacific Railway was a life changing railway that improved the many lives of BNA colonies. It was an idea mainly driven by Sir John A MacDonald. Though it did allow many to settle in the West of BNA(Rupert's Land) and assist in intercolonial trade to and from colonies, many people had their land and essentially, life taken away from them. Those unlucky people were the Metis and the Aboriginals. With the finished construction of the railway, many "whites", who felt racially superior to the Metis and Aboriginals, stole their land from them for settlement. The "whites" also constantly hunted bison as game and made food (which was the bison) scarce for the First Nations. Harsh behavior towards them is also shown through events such as the "Indian Act" . In contrast to the Canadians, life became harsh for them with the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
